This artwork was inspired by mathematicians, geophysicists, and astronomers, and was originally created for students at a local Islamic college. The piece features stars aligned to form an arched door, with the names of various scientists inscribed along the border. In the lower middle, a star is drawn with the name of the first university, which was founded by a Muslim woman. In the center, the Earth is depicted with its diameter, which was originally discovered by Muslim scientists, written next to it. Additionally, a fountain pen, invented by Muslims, is also depicted. Other Muslim innovations highlighted in the piece include the camera, guitar, windmills, π, magnifying glass, and the game of chess. Muslims even attempted to create wings for transportation, though unfortunately the inventor perished during the process. This artwork provides an opportunity for students to learn about Islamic inventions of the past and be inspired to create innovations that will amaze us in the future.
Framing is currently offered within Perth, Australia only. Because paper-cutting artworks are delicate and dimensional, framing is a little different to standard prints. I recommend a “floating” presentation, sandwiched between two pieces of glass so the artwork stays protected and visible from both sides.
If you’re in Perth, I can arrange framing and deliver to you. If you’re outside Perth, please message me with your location and I’ll share the best options and next steps.
Every artwork is an original, hand-crafted piece by Tusif Ahmad. Each order includes a signed authenticity card.
